Meet Khalilah

I didn’t grow up with a blueprint for this.

Everything I’m building—my writing, my voice, my vision—I taught myself, piece by piece.

I write stories that come from real places. From love, from loss, from the things we don’t always say out loud. My work lives in that space between who we are and who we’re becoming.

My debut novel, Lovers ’n’ Bucktown, is rooted in early-2000s Brooklyn and the relationships that shape us—how we love, how we survive, and how we carry the past with us whether we mean to or not.

But this is bigger than one book.

I’m building a body of work—across books, film, and storytelling—that reflects real emotion, real complexity, and real life. Stories that feel familiar, but also push you to look deeper.
