More Than What You See

By Khalilah Nicolé & Autumn Skai

More Than What You See is a heartfelt children’s story about love, sacrifice, and the unseen moments that shape a child’s world.

When Zora spends the day at work with her mother, she notices something she’s felt for a while—her mom is always busy, often tired, and sometimes far away. But everything changes when Zora stumbles upon a mysterious golden statue with the power to reveal what she cannot see.

Through a series of quiet, magical reflections, Zora begins to witness the moments hidden behind her mother’s long days—the small choices, the constant thinking of her, the love woven into everything she does.

What once felt like distance becomes understanding.

And what once felt unseen becomes undeniable.

Co-written with my daughter, this story is a gentle reminder to children that love isn’t only shown in the moments we notice—it’s present in the ones we don’t.
